Why We Built EverydayDeutsch

Moving to Germany is exciting — until you need to explain your symptoms to a doctor, negotiate an apartment lease, or register at the Bürgeramt. Textbooks don't prepare you for that.

The Problem

Most German learning apps teach you to say “Der Hund ist groß” (the dog is big). That's fine for a classroom, but it won't help when you're sitting in a doctor's office trying to explain chest pain, or when the Bürgeramt clerk asks for your Meldebescheinigung.

There's a gap between textbook German and survival German. The phrases you actually need — for appointments, bureaucracy, housing, and work — are scattered across forums, blog posts, and expensive courses.

EverydayDeutsch closes that gap.

Our Mission

Give every newcomer to Germany the German they actually need — accessible, private, and available offline. No gamification tricks, no data harvesting. Just practical language training for real life.

How We're Different

Three principles that guide everything we build.

Scenario-Based Learning

Every phrase, word, and drill is tied to a real-life situation you'll actually face. No abstract grammar exercises — just practical German you'll use tomorrow.

Spaced Repetition

Our SRS algorithm schedules reviews at the optimal time for long-term memory. Cards you struggle with appear more often; easy ones fade back. Science, not cramming.

Privacy-First

Your data stays on your device. No account required, no tracking by default, no data sold. Optional cloud sync is fully opt-in.
