Scope
This policy applies to EverydayDeutsch on web and Android, including our website, app, and related support pages. It does not apply to third-party services we link to.
Data We Process
- Learning progress and settings (default local-only): Study progress, review history, preferences, and app settings are stored on your device using local storage / IndexedDB.
- Account data (optional): If you use cloud sync, we process your email address for sign-in and your synced progress data.
- Usage analytics (optional): If analytics is enabled, we process product usage events (for example, screen interactions and feature usage) to improve app quality. Analytics can be disabled in app settings.
- Support communications: If you contact us, we process the information you send (such as email content) to respond to your request.
How We Use Data
- Provide core learning functionality and save your progress.
- Enable optional cloud sync across devices.
- Operate, secure, debug, and improve the app.
- Respond to support and legal requests.
Third-Party Processors
- Firebase (Google Cloud): authentication and optional sync storage.
- Cloudflare: infrastructure for web/app delivery and OTP flow.
- Resend: OTP email delivery for optional sign-in.
- PostHog: optional product analytics.
We do not sell your personal data.
Retention
- Local device data remains until you clear app/browser data or uninstall the app.
- Cloud sync data remains until you request deletion or remove your account.
- Support messages are kept as needed to resolve your request and comply with legal obligations.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
International Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than where you live, depending on our service providers. We use appropriate safeguards where required by applicable law.
Children's Privacy
EverydayDeutsch is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Your Choices and Rights
- You can use the app without creating an account.
- You can disable analytics in app settings.
- You can clear local data from app/browser settings at any time.
