Emergency Numbers: 110 vs 112
In Germany, 110 is for the police. 112 is for fire and medical emergencies. Both numbers are free to call and work from any phone.
“Anzeige erstatten” and the Confirmation
To “file a police report”, Germans often say „eine Anzeige erstatten“. After the report is recorded, you can usually get a written confirmation, which can be useful for your insurance or for an embassy when replacing documents.
